Rudolph Tanzi, PhD, from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School discussed the current status of treatments for the condition and how more progress can now be made in the field. Tanzi said that the understanding of the condition had only become "lucid in the past year or so." Because of that he said prior tests and attempts at treatments have not been able to reach their desired goals. "In many respects the amyloid hypothesis didn't fail the trials, the trials faild the hypothesis.
