The number of patients who need a kidney transplant far outweighs the number of organs available for donation. Despite that work is being done to make even a small dent in this growing problem.

Anil Paramesh, MD, from Tulane University discussed this development in patient care and what it can mean not only for patients in his area but also those around the country as well. While patients may not have a living donor who is a match for them, their potential donor could help someone else who could be a match down the line for the original patient.
