Health care providers and consumers can have the most up-to-date human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) information in the palm of their hands with the new AIDSinfo application.
There’s two versions of the app — one specifically geared towards medical professionals and the other for consumers. AIDSinfo provides prevention and treatment recommendations for adults, adolescents, children, and perinatal infections. One of the key components here is that the information is taken from expert panelists.
“Health care providers surveyed on the AIDSinfo website expect mobile access to up-to-date HIV information at the point of care — even an Internet connection is unavailable. Designed to meet that expectation, the app automatically refreshes guidelines content when the user is connected to a wireless or cellular data network,” the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) described in a news release.
The guidelines are broken down by type of patient and can be customized based on needs. iOs users can download the app on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch and it’s also available on Android devices. Some of the features include:
AIDSinfo gives both health care providers and consumers the opportunity to stay up-to-date on the latest HIV findings which in return leads to better education and awareness. Download the app here.
