Believe it or not, it's quite possible thatyou may one day in the near future decideto attach your vanity license plate to aChinese-made Geely instead of a Lexus.TheChinese automaker will be rolling out a lineof models beginning around early 2008,and they're expected to be priced at thousandsless than their American, European,and Japanese counterparts. For example,says a Chinese-made auto thatcosts $20,000 will be similarly equipped toa regular mainstream car that would costaround $35,000. Right now the Geely lineis being upgraded for North American consumers,replacing their 3-liter V6 engineswith 3.6 liters, and their four-speed transmissionsto six speeds. John Harmer, COOof Geely USA, is in charge of helping Geelyautos meet US emission and safety standardsand establishing dealerships aroundthe country. Harmer proudly states that,"There will not be an automobile of equalquality available for this price anywhere inAmerica in terms of superior quality, priceadvantage, and integrity of dealerships."
