For children going to school, their time in the classroom is a time of learning but also a time when germs can be spread on a wide scale basis. For asthma patients this can often mean several causes of their condition becoming worse without having done much to cause it.

Recent research has been done to see whether medication can help control these exacerbations and allow the young students to continue their regular education program without significant interruption. Ann Esquivel, MD, from the University of Wisconsin discussed these findings during the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Annual Meeting in Houston.
