While it is clear the opioid abuse problem is not going away, those working in the field are still determined to ensure that the problems of the past do not interfere with success in the future.

Looking at the field of pain medicine David Copenhaver, MD, from UC Davis Health System said there are simply not enough specialists to help all the patients in need. As a result the California institution has started a telementoring program aimed to educate others in the medical field who can help their patients at the local level without having to go to specialized centers.
