David Kendall: Treating Diabetes Requires a Team Effort

Diabetes may have its roots in endocrinology but in recent years it has proven to be an issue affecting specialities across medicine. Because of that it takes more than one specialist to provide the best possible care for patients with the condition.

Diabetes may have its roots in endocrinology but in recent years it has proven to be an issue affecting specialities across medicine. Because of that it takes more than one specialist to provide the best possible care for patients with the condition.

The connection between endocrinology and cardiology is gaining larger acceptance in the treatment of diabetes but David M. Kendall, MD, from Lilly, said it takes more than that to fully treat a patient. While doctors have busy schedules Kendall said being able to effectively communicate with patients can not only help improve their quality of life but also allows doctors to do their job more effectively in the long run.
