In New York State David Rosenthal, DO, PhD, from Northwell Health, said the law allows PrEP to be prescribed at the age of 18 without a parent's consent. However, Rosenthal said it can also vary depending on whether the patient is having "high risk sex." Because of that he said it is important for patients to be able to speak freely with their providers in order to get the protection they need.
