IDWeek 2012: Key Information for Attendees

IDWeek™ is a joint meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA), and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS).

WHEN: October 17-21, 2012

WHERE: San Diego, CA

This year’s conference will be held at the San Diego Convention Center. However, “some sessions as well as affiliated events will be held in nearby hotels including the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.”

Keynote speakers at IDWeek 2012 will include:

Martin J. Blaser, MD, FIDSA, chair of the Department of Medicine, Frederick H. King Professor of Internal Medicine, and professor of microbiology at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Blaser will discuss “The Menace of Antibiotics” during a special opening plenary session, Wednesday, October 17, 4:00-6:00pm.

Robert Massie, M DIV, DBA, JFK School of Government, Harvard University, and president of the New Economics Institute, will discuss “A Song in the Night: Reflections on Surviving Hemophilia, HIV, and Hepatitis C,” his memoir that “recounts his experiences with classical hemophilia, HIV, and hepatitis C.” Massie will speak during a special opening plenary session, Wednesday, October 17, 4:00-6:00pm.
