If You Knew Then What You Know Now... Would You Still be a Doctor?

Knowing what your life and your practice look like today, would you do it just the same, or would you pursue another career path?

In the November 2005 issue of MDNG, the editors asked physician readers, “Was It Worth It?” With the pressure on physicians seemingly intensifying from every angle—paperwork, compensation, federal regulations, managed care, malpractice (to name just a few)—would you still go to medical school and go on to become a physician?

Today, in an era of healthcare reform, we think this question is as pertinent as ever. So we’re asking our audience again: Would you do it all over again? Knowing what your life and your practice look like today, would you do it just the same, or would you pursue another career path?

We will be monitoring the discussion and the physician who provides the best comment will receive a $50 American Express gift card.
