Image IQ: 34-Year-Old Woman with Abnormal Hair Growth

How good are your diagnostic skills? Test them with this month's Visual Dx quiz!

A 34-year-old woman went to the doctor after she noticed hair growing on her body in areas where it hadn’t before. She had always had a little bit of hair growth on her upper lip, but now it seemed to be more significant.

She was starting to get noticeable sideburns and hair growth down her cheek, almost like a beard. She even had a little hair growth on her chest, which had surprised her. The hair growth had really happened quite gradually so it took a while for her to notice, but as a woman with darker hair, she felt it was very obvious and hoped there might be an explanation.

As the doctor asked more about her medical history, the patient mentioned she frequently missed periods not due to pregnancy.
