Jersey Mike’s Raises $377,000 for Make-A-Wish New Jersey.
$377,492 equals 35—at least, as far as Make-A-Wish New Jersey is concerned.
Throughout March, New Jersey locations of the Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurant chain participated in its 8th Annual “Month of Giving” campaign by supporting Make-A-Wish New Jersey with a $377,492 donation and granting a wish for Claudia, a 4-year old with 22q11 deletion syndrome. The donation will help the organization grant over 35 wishes to local children in the weeks and months ahead, and it furthers Make-A-Wish’s mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Make-A-Wish New Jersey, which is in the midst of celebrating its 35th anniversary, has granted life-altering wishes for almost 10,000 children in the state since 1983. The organization understands the impact a wish can make in the face of critical illnesses (for both the patients and families), and so it strives to assist in renewing strength and encouragement for those fighting battles against severe illnesses.
Tom Weatherall, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish New Jersey, expressed the importance and significance of his organization’s Make-A-Wish New Jersey. “Throughout our 35-year history in New Jersey, we have come to know that a wish has the ability to transform a child’s life during some of their most difficult trials. A wish creates an opportunity for hope and the ability to experience life beyond illness. Our friends at Jersey Mike’s Subs and their loyal and generous customers understand the impact of a wish.”
“We are grateful and deeply humbled to have been selected as their charity partner in New Jersey once again. These precious and vital funds raised during this year’s campaign will be converted into wishes immediately, in fact almost 40 in total. Our wish kids live in the same communities as Jersey Mike’s customers. It’s no surprise then, that this partnership resonates with all involved and how deeply grateful we are for that!”
In its most recent fiscal year, Make-A-Wish New Jersey granted a record 530 wishes. With the hope of exceeding that mark in 2018, Make-A-Wish turns to corporations like Jersey Mike’s Subs, who offer generous support, as they are critical to the continued success.
Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO, also expressed his gratitude for Mike’s Subs’ customers and their support while also reiterating the company’s mission of giving. “I would like to thank our extraordinary customers, franchise owners, team members and charity partners who helped us raise the most ever during Jersey Mike’s 8th Annual Month of Giving in March. Our mission statement has always been focused on making a difference in people’s lives, and the over $6 million raised this March will go a long way toward supporting the good work of our local partner charities.”
“Giving…making a difference in someone’s life” has been Jersey Mike’s mission from the beginning. Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised more than $28 million for worthy local charities since 2010. They have also distributed more than 2 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
On a national level, Jersey Mike’s raised over $6 million with the campaign.
