As the battle against the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) epidemic continues, a project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is looking at different ways to use technology to help in the prevention and care of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and AIDS.

Lisa Hightow-Weidman, MD, MPH, from the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, discussed the project during a recent interview with MD Magazine. With a total of six sites throughout the country, the goal is to find a variety of ways to help patients both in at risk populations and those who have the virus to better manage their care.
