Options for Gout Pain Management

Watch this video for a brief discussion of options for the medical management of gout pain.

Nathan Wei, MD, FACP, FACR, of the Arthritis Treatment Center notes that “while gout management is aimed mostly at lowering the chronically high levels of serum uric acid and preventing destruction of internal organs, pain relief is also a major goal” of treatment. In this video, he briefly discusses several options for gout pain relief, including NSAIDs, glucocorticoids, colchicine, and interleukin-1 blockers.
