The obesity epidemic continues to grow in this country leaving the medical community to find new ways to help this patient population.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the American Diabertes Association Priscilla Hollander, MD, PhD, of the Baylor Health Care System discussed a study looking at combining the diabetes medication Invokana and the weight loss drug phentermine. Hollander said the initial study results showed benefits in helping patients lose weight which could prove helpful in future patient care efforts.
