Francisco A. Sylvester, MD, UNC School of Medicine talked about the different ways in which the care of pediatric IBD differs from adult IBD.

"In the formative years, especially in adolescence, it is a very vulnerable period from the psychological perspective, as well. Issues of self-image are prevalent so this is another area that we're learning to focus more on," said Sylvester at the 2015 Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (AIBD) meeting in Orlando, FL.
