There is no shortage of medications for type 2 diabetes but as the number of patients also increases work is underway to find the best options for everyone with the condition.

John Yee, MD, MPH, the head of medical affairs for diabetes at AstraZeneca discussed where the treatment of the condition is headed during the American Diabetes Association's 75th Annual Scientific Sessions in Boston. Yee said as new classes have developed over the past decade it has made treatment easier for patients going forward. By getting treatment to patients earlier, he said, it has helped their overall quality of life.
