As the diabetes epidemic continues to grow, doctors are faced with the task of stopping or reversing the trend.

Linda Delahanty, MS, RD, LDN, from Massachusetts General Hospital, discussed the best ways to treat these patients during the American Diabetes Assocation's 75th Annual Scientific Sessions in Boston. Delahanty said for both conditions losing weight and exercise can be a key part of the overall treatment process. She also said it was important to notice that in most cases small weight loss amounts can help the patients in the long run.
