There are some movement disorders that are commonly seen by healthcare professionals and some that fall more into the rare category. Properly diagnosing and treating them can make a big difference in a patient's quality of life.

Oksana Suchowersky, MD, FAAN, from the University of Alberta Hospital discussed some of the treatments for a few of these conditions during the American Academy of Neurology's annual meeting in Washington DC. Suchowersky's talk covered a number of topics including tics, dystonia, and chorea among others.
