The American College of Rheumatology issued new guidelines for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in November, during the 2015 ACR/ARHP meeting in San Francisco. The guidelines address the use of disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologics, tofacitinib and glucocorticoids in early and established rheumatoid arthritis cases. It also addresses various treatment approaches such as treat-to-target, switching between therapies, tapering of therapy and the use of biologics and DMARDs in high-risk RA patients. And, it addresses the use of vaccines in patients receiving DMARDs or biologics, tuberculosis screening for patients receiving biologics or tofacitinib, and laboratory monitoring with DMARDs.  In total, 74 recommendations have been made (23% strong and 77% conditional). How familiar are you with the new guidelines?
