Over the course of the past year lesser known conditions like pertussis and more well known but not seen conditions like measles have made headlines. Work is continuing to keep both from becoming more significant health threats than they already are.

Stephen J. Gluckman, MD, from the University of Pennsylvania discussed how for both conditions vaccinations can help to not only keep people healthy but prevent the spread of both conditions. Gluckman pointed to the recent outbreak of measles that traced its roots to Disney Land as an example of how quickly otherwise quiet conditions can affect people's lives without proper prevention.
