Congenital heart disease may have the same name in adult and pediatric care but the two conditions can often require vastly different approaches in care. Despite that work in the field is being done to help patients of all age maintain a high quality of life.

Syed Ali N. Zaidi, MD, from Montefiore Medical Center said that there are some parts of adult congenital heart disease that can be applied to pediatric patients, and that the reverse is true in some cases. Despite some commonality Zaidi said the two conditions are mostly separate despite research being done to find more links that can help patients of all ages.
