As congenital heart patients transition from pediatric care to adult care there is a world of new challenges awaiting them. How they approach those challenges and how their doctors help them in that time can determine how they manage the condition in the future.

Conditions like congenital heart disease will follow a patient throughout the course of their lives. As a result education can be critical in keeping them healthy from their time as children through adulthood according to Syed Ali N. Zaidi, MD, from Montefiore Medical Center. This is especially true for patients who either are pregnant or considering becoming pregnant.
