Tweet Chat on Doctors Getting Online Scheduled for January 27

Author(s):

SoMeDoc's founder leads the inaugural chat between the #DocTalk and #SoMeDocs communities.

Where does a doctor belong, online? How about on social media? Are there mediums they should avoid? Any topics too taboo to speak out on?

In the last 20 years, the healthcare community has mobilized its thought leaders to the internet, and has staked out space on online platforms. But the formalities of being a physician, caregiver, or even a clinical academic have not perfectly addressed the ever-changing web media.

But the experts are the users—so why don’t we ask them?

In the first event of the collaborative tweet chat series between #DocTalk and #SoMeDocs, Dana Corriel, MD (@DrCorriel), founder of Doctors on Social Media (@SoMeDocs) joins the HCPLive® team to lead a discussion on “Doctors Getting Online.”

The chat begins Monday, January 27, at 6 PM EST, under the #DocTalk and #SoMeDoc hashtags. Here are the questions:

  1. What drove you to develop a social media/online presence as a healthcare professional?
  2. How do you view your online platforms? As an escape? An outlet? A bridge to communities?
  3. What have been some of the greatest uses of online communities and social media, relative to healthcare?
  4. What uses that you’ve seen you believe to be inappropriate or detrimental to you and your peers?
  5. How do you want to see online platforms and social media improve for you and your peers?
  6. What advice would you give to a colleague who is interested in joining online/social media communities?
  7. Bonus: Name someone who inspired you to first join healthcare conversations online!

Anyone interested in joining the chat should follow @SoMeDocs and @MDMagazine, check the hashtags, and look out for this banner indicating the chat’s start on Twitter:

Every Monday evening over the next few months, doctors, care providers, students, experts, and advocates can participate in the joint #DocTalk and #SoMeDocs chat: a discussion on the biggest trends, news, ideas, and issues in healthcare today, hosted by a network of physician thought leaders.

SoMeDocs is an online platform that provides physicians a space to network, collaborate, and grow their own brands. Physicians with interest in becoming thought leaders, growing their practice, connecting with a target audience, and advancing their careers through online growth and networking can learn more here.
