Response to May 2007 Issue

Re your article "Is the Death of the Dollar Upon Us?" in the May 2007 issue, I was quite surprised that you published such an irresponsible article, which advises your readers to purchase a quarter ounce of gold for $925 as an inflation hedge. This would imply a numismatic value of about 5-fold the bullion content, and the coins are neither rare nor old. If one were to buy the scary scenario of the dollar being "hyperinflated into worthlessness," which I don't, there would be many better alternative holdings than overpriced gold coins, for example, mutual funds holding a diversified basket of high-quality foreign companies, or the exchange-traded fund, EZU.
