DocTalk Podcast: Mental Health Stigma Panel

Author(s):

Listen in to the audio transcript of a policy- and public health-based discussion on mental health stigma from a panel of experts.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the DocTalk podcast. I’m Kevin Kunzmann, managing editor of MD Magazine®, and I’ll be your host for this special edition of DocTalk.

Normally, our show features a one-on-one conversation with a clinical expert. Each episode is typically 10-20 minutes, and focuses on one topic of healthcare at a time. But this week’s episode is going to be a little bit different.

About a month ago, I was asked to moderate a panel discussion on mental health stigma with a team of public healthcare policy and advocacy experts. The panel was part of the 2nd Annual Advancing Mental Health Policy: BetterTogether Forum, from Otsuka Americal Pharmacuetical, hosted in Washington, DC.

Today’s episode is actually the live-recorded audio of that 45-minute discussion, featuring the excellent insights of our panel:

  • Tammy Boyd, Chief Policy Officer of Black Women’s Health Imperative
  • John Snook, Executive Director of the Treatment Advocacy Center
  • Jeff Valliere, Director of Communications at FasterCures

We hope you enjoy the talk.
