Revised Evidence-based Pharmacotherapy Textbook Now Available-September 2008

The new edition of Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach is a recommended reference book for pharmacists.

The seventh edition of Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach (Joseph T. DiPiro, PharmD, FCCP; Robert L. Talpert, PharmD, FCCP, BCPS; Gary C. Yee, PharmD, FCCP; Gary R. Matzke, FCP, FCCP; Barbara G. Wells, PharmD, FASHP, FCCP, BCPP; L. Michael Posey, BSPharm) is now available.

This textbook sets the standard in therapeutics courses in North American schools of pharmacy and a trusted reference for those in practice. It not only offers evidence-based approaches to the medication treatment of diseases, but it goes beyond drug indications and dosages to include the initial selection, proper administration, and monitoring of drugs.

This new revision features expanded evidence-based recommendations and extended coverage of the timely issue of palliative care and pain medicine. Other new additions also include Web-based chapters and new chapters on drug therapy individualization; patients with hepatic disease; primary pulmonary hypertension; management of the developmentally disabled; substance abuse; drug therapy of influenza; and psychosomatic medicine.

• “Clinical Presentation” boxes summarize the most common disease signs and symptoms covered in each chapter
