Hypertension is a common diagnosis in patients and can often require patients to visit their doctors on a regular basis. A new approach to treatment could mean fewer trips for patients while providing a high level of care at the same time.

Akinlolu Ojo, MD, PhD, MBA, from the University of Michigan, discussed how this new approach works and potential complications associated with it during the American College of Physicians Internal Medicine Meeting in Boston. Ojo noted that patients need not much more than a blood pressure cuff to monitor their pressure which many already have. Because of this he said it can be a good method to use that does not cost patients more than their current approach.
