Atrial fibrillation is a growing problem and new techniques and technologies are being developed to treat the condition. One new device has been developed as a new surgical option for doctors to consider.

MD Magazine spoke with Walid Saliba, MD, from Cleveland Clinic about the development and testing of the Watchman device. With a different function that previous devices the Watchman hopes to help patients before their condition becomes fatal.

The Watchman device has undergone several studies to see how effective it is in treating patients with atrial fibrillation. Those results have shown promise for a condition with growing numbers around the world.
