A lot has changed in the field of cardiology over the past few years even disproving ideas that had been held by doctors a decade ago or less. As a result there is hope that patients with a variety of conditions can receive better care than those of the past.

Speaking following the annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology Clyde W. Yancy, MD, from the Feinberg School of Medicine discussed some of the recent advances made in the field and what they can mean for patient care. Yancy pointed at several studies that were highlighted at the annual conference in his home city and showed how they have helped move the field forward while still having more work to be done in the future.
