Speaking at the annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology in Chicago, Philip Schauer, MD, from the Cleveland Clinic discussed the results of the STAMPEDE trial which looked at this topic. Schauer said the trial looked at patients who received either gastric bypass surgery, a gastric sleeve, or "very intense" medical treatment.
